Productive Day

Tuesdays off from work are full of accomplishments. Here is a list of all the things I did today, while rocking out in this amazingly comfy and warm Fair Isle sweater…and in these boots that give me crazy amounts of height that cause sales associates to comment on how tall I am.

  • I cleaned out my closet of things I don’t wear anymore.
  • I took them to a resale place here and made $100 on some of the items. They gave me back the items they didn’t want.
  • I took those reject items to the second location of this same resale place and made $46 on some of the rejects. Success.
  • I took my wedding dress in to get alterations so that my rib cage would fit nicely into it. Long story short, I bought a wedding dress for $54 in The Fiance’s hometown. It is probably 1/2 size too small. I am going to make this work.
  • The alterations lady was so nice, but told me that my dress was too short or I was either too tall. I don’t know how to take this comment.
  • I bought the domain name for my blog. More details to come once I figure out website speak. Exciting!
  • I emptied the trash and did laundry. Riveting!

Luckily, I get another day off tomorrow, so I might just have a lazy day to myself.

More Snow, Less Fun

Don’t worry folks, just when The Fiancé and I had finished shoveling off the driveway for the weekend, we got more snow last night! Lame. Winter is the worst. Luckily, I had a nice weekend eating brunch and wings and brownies (ahh the life), snuggling with the puppy, and going to Lucas Oil Stadium to watch my Colts win! No outfit post yesterday, since I wore my Colts jersey and Saturday’s long black cardigan all day.

Today marks the beginning of a great two weeks. It is jeans for the rest of the year at my work, and I have a 2.5 day work week this week, followed by a 1.5 day work week next week. Lucky ducky, indeed. So get ready to see more casual looks (while still appearing business casual + jeans). I love this blazer (along with the rest of my “collection” of Merona’s oxford blazers), and thought it might work well with a yellow shirt, since it has a faint yellow/gold stripe in the plaid. I think it did work out extremely well, even though it is a lot of color/texture in one look. The jeans and the neutral ankle boots balance this out well.

ps. I broke my no-shopping ban. 14 days strong, only to be broken by a ridiculous sale at Old Navy. Gasp! However, I justified it with a friend, and I’m feeling okay about it. I ended up buying the long Old Navy cardigan (previously seen here in black) in gray and white and then the Honeycomb Knit sweater (seen here) in mint (to make the minimal amount for free shipping). I knew I would have bought them after Christmas as good staples, and I didn’t want to miss the ridiculous savings that were going on this weekend. Please forgive me in this difficult time. I am planning on joining a shopping budget group in January. Stay tuned!

Ladybug Lounging

This is my “yay, it is Friday” face. Don’t you agree?

I am so glad it is Friday, as you can tell by my excited face above. Today is my normally scheduled day off of work, and I am excited to lay around the house all weekend (and eat some pizza). We have no plans (though we were suppose to be going skiing, silly weather), which is nice, because the next few weeks and weekends are going to be jam-packed with holiday parties, family gatherings, and vacation days. I’m excited. The Fiance is excited. Even Cooper is excited, since he gets to go visit his “grandma and grandpa” (aka my parents).

Today called for a lazy day look that was still polished enough to venture out into the real world (the brooch adds some pizazzazz, I think). I’m not too much of a sweatpants lounge girl, so these jeggings from Old Navy do the trick. And as much as I love my old tees from college, I don’t know if the general public appreciates them, so this polka dot tee is a nice compromise.

Happy Friday readers! What are you up to this weekend?

ps. I might have to get my bangs back. I’m not sure I can muster up the courage to go bang-free. What do you think?

Double Dot Day

Today is ridiculously windy here in Indy (rhyming poet right here), so much that they are calling it Windinanapolis now. Clever, right?! Please check out my hair for further proof.

So a windy day called for all the dots in the world. This scarf was a gift to me from my friend C. She knows how much I love scarves and polka dots and brought it to me randomly one day when she was up to visit. What an awesome surprise (and friend gesture), right?! This is its first appearance on the blog (which she read regularly, hello C!), so please enjoy it in its splendor!

She also is a super big fan of Cooper and has requested more photos of him on the blog. This is hilariously fitting for today’s post, since he managed to sneak into ALL the blog pictures that I took myself during lunch. He would not cooperate, so I had to wait until after work for The Fiance to take the photos. So here you go, C…I enjoy your scarf. Please enjoy the puppy!

Real Life Ralph Lauren?

Lookin’ snazzy, right? Someone (I kid you not) at my work today, asked me if I was trying out to be a Ralph Lauren model. The answer was “no, but thank you thank you thank you for saying that.” Again, people, real life compliments are where it is at!

I had a fairly important conference call at work today, and even though it sounds crazy, I have read that you act more on point and more professional (even just on the phone) if you are more dressed up. That’s why they tell you to be in your business professional suit when on the phone with a job interview. At least, that’s what they told me in business school! I think it work, since I nailed the call.

This outfit also streamlined my layering issues from yesterday. The blazer helps define a shape, and I still got to keep warm by rocking this thinner sweater under my blazer. Warm and professional? Count me in!

Copycat!: A Pony for Christmas

Outfit Inspiration from: Mindy Kaling on The Mindy Project

DSC02447

DSC02448*Copycat! is a feature where I try to recreate outfits I find on Pinterest (or various other sources of inspiration), utilizing at least one item from Target.

Third time for a Copycat! This inspiration comes from Mindy Kaling on The Mindy Project, which is actually one of the few shows that I regularly watch (though on Hulu). This sweater is so cute, but so little kid-ish (mainly because I plucked it from the girls department of Old Navy), so I was having a hard time figuring out how to wear it to work. Who else, but the hilarious Mindy, could pair together a horse graphic shirt and still look business appropriate, which is exactly what I wanted to do with this sweater this morning! I took the cutesy-ness of this sweater up a notch with the polka dot tights (which might have seen their last day, since I think they have a run in them…sad face), and have already gotten tons of compliments from people at work. Boom…real life compliments are day makers!

How would you rock this sweater in real life? Old Navy’s Instagram also featured this sweater on their feed today. I’m such a trendsetter, hah!

ps. I’m already sick of winter. And snow. And wearing tights. Get ready for a long winter season of me complaining about the cold and trying to make blankets fashionable. Just what you wanted to hear right?

Black and Brown and Glitz

Happy Birthday Z! Here is the outfit that I wore out last night with some friends to celebrate my friend Z’s birthday. I ended up ditching the necklace, as it was a bit fancy for the pub that we were going to eat dinner at, and I replaced it with a scarf, per my friend B’s brilliant suggestion. Dot tights are one of my top 10 favorite clothing items right now, but even with them and a coat it was brr brr brr outside!

It up being a good night out with friends enjoying some deep dish pizza, some pool, and some crazy giant Jenga stacking (or giant Jenga collapsing as the case may be). We had whole groups of people marveling at our Jenga stacking skills and trying to coach us from the sidelines. It was so great!

I got to enjoy sleeping in this morning, and right now, I am curled up in a warm cardigan and ready to catch up on some blogs that I read and watch my Colts beat up on some little Bengals!

Enjoy your Sunday, friends!
